Studies indicate that crime prevention measures can significantly reduce crime and are up to 10 times more cost-effective than traditional control measures.
The Crime Prevention Foundation of Brown County was formed to help prevent crime by supporting programs which successfully engage a variety of at-risk populations such as children and teens.
The Crime Prevention Foundation increases public awareness of and provides financial assistance to crime prevention programs in Brown County, Wisconsin. Financial support is given to existing programs and for the implementation of new crime prevention programs that break the crime triangle. For a crime to occur, these three elements are necessary:
1. DESIRE to commit the crime;
2. ABILITY to commit the crime; and
3.OPPORTUNITY to commit the crime.
Programs or projects receiving grants from the fund must aim to reduce or eliminate at least one of these three elements.

2. To raise funds for the Foundation and invest them for long term growth; and
3. To be a long term source of funding for Crime Prevention programs within Brown County.
Our original goal, and it's still our target, is to raise $1.0 million; and use the invested earnings to fund local crime prevention programs. As of May, 2011, we have $591,000 in our Foundation account.
